Your trip to England isn't complete without at least one stop to a chocolate factory. Believe it or not, there a handful of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory inspirations that have become a popular tourist and local attraction in the British Isles. From Cadbury's very own factory with chocolate tours, to The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, your adventures through the world of chocolate await at some fun locations.

England's most popular brand of chocolate is Cadbury's, and you'll find their candy bars at every news agent and grocery store in the area. Although there are plenty of gourmet influences from neighboring European countries, English candy and chocolate has a unique taste, recipe, and flavor. There are still plenty of candy shops around small towns and neighborhoods; small stores where you can get a pound's worth of candy tucked into a small white paper bag. However, for a true chocolate adventure, you'll want to set your sights on visiting any (or all, if you can schedule it!) chocolate factories in England:

Walk through the chocolate doors at The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, and you'll be absorbed by the author's characters and displays from the country's popular children's books. The museum just opened in 2005, and this tribute to the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory author features the very writing hut that inspired his fantastic creations. Visitors can decorate their own chocolate bar in the museum, and enjoy some homemade cake and tea in the Café. Call 01494 892192 for more information.

Take a tour through Cadbury World, and you'll be in for a real treat of authentic chocolate making, learning the inspirational story of John Cadbury himself, and seeing the factory in full operation. The demonstration area is the place to learn the basics of chocolate and candy making, while the Cadbury shop will leave you dizzy with the world's largest collection of Cadbury confections. Cadbury Land is a theme park and entertainment hotspot for the entire family, filled with rides and activities to make your visit sweet and memorable. Call 0845 450 3599 for booking information.

Great article, Sabah. I will never forget a school trip to Cadbury World when I was 13. Sophie
