Cheap, Easy Basket Any Writer Will Love

Recently, I was at lost of what to give my writer grandma for Christmas. I do not have much money and I wanted it to be from the heart. Then it came to me, a writer's basket! This gift is perfect for any writer in your life. My whole basket even cost under $7!

Basket Ingredients: For my basket, I put in the following. I found all of these items at my local dollar tree. First off you need a small to medium sized basket. Inside goes the following: pens, coffee mug (filled with inspiration, keep reading), white out, teddy bear or other small stuffed toy, timer, lollipops, a small notebook, and the poem below. Those are the basics of the basket, but you can also add more candy, stationary, stamps, envelopes, pencils, and office supplies.

The Poem: I wrote a poem to highlight the basket. It really added a sincere touch and made the basket look better than just a bunch of writing utensils thrown together. Put this on a nice piece of stationary to make it look extra special.

To an inspiring writer,
In whom I believe
For you I give some pens
To jot down every thought you conceive,
A cute notebook to carry
When the next novel idea appears,
And a small teddy
To wipe away any rejection tears,
Also a ticking time bomb
To keep you on track
And some white out
For when your words go a little whack,
A mug of inspiration
For when you get stuck
And a couple of lollipops
Because sometimes being a writer just sucks!

Inspiration: For the mug of inspiration, I just cut up slips of paper with writer quotes and ideas on them and put them in the mug. These are the ones I used so you can easily print them out with the poem.

"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great."Mark Twain

"Experience is one thing you can't get for nothing."Oscar Wilde

"Writing a novel is like driving a car at night. You can see only as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way."E.L. Doctorow

"Good writing is supposed to evoke sensation in the reader-not the fact that it is raining, but the feeling of being rained upon."E.L. Doctorow

This is such a great idea, and how did Grandma like it?
