The newly named Republican Vice Presidential candidate has received recognition and admiration for giving birth to her fifth child which was known suffer from Down's Syndrone. As a strong right to life and family values advocate Sarah Palin never considered ending the pregnancy, but welcome the hand
icapped child into her family.

With the announcement that her 17 year old daughter, Bristol, is now preagnant and unmarried it seems the Palin family will once again will have an opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to life and family values in support of their daughter. As she has demonstrated in the past Sarah Palin's commitment to her family and to her support of the right to life remains unwavering and those who know her best suggest the announcement of her daughter's pregnacy will not change her stance or support for her daughter or the right to life.

In announcing her daughter's condition Governor Palin said: "Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned," they continued, referring to their 17-year-old daughter. "As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support."

As a "family values" candidate Gov. Palin and one who is a strong proponent of teaching abstinence-only sex education to teenagers it is expected that Palin will receive a great deal of unwanted publicity concerning her daughter and as a result made the following plea to the media: "Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media, respect our daughter and Levi's privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates."

It remains to be seen how this announcement will play out in the presidential campaign.

Nice article. Makes the family all the more "real" in my opinion. Think of the guilt trip it would've been for Bristol had mama decided against the VP selection just because of the potential fallout of having an unwed teen for a daughter! I'm glad she didn't cave to that.

SO, SP's teen daughter is preggers. Shame on her. Where did SP go wrong? My mama told me if I ever got preggers there'd be no help, no support and I'd disgrace the family. She always said, "This is a house of honor and you will not disgrace it by getting knocked up." Wow, I had to live up to that expectation OR ELSE. I tell every boy, you ain't touching me unless we're married and I'm not ready to get married. And if he says okay, g'bye, I say, same to you and move on. Obviously SP didn't put such a heavy expectation on Bristol, and shame on Bristol for not controlling her urges. She had plenty of time to think of consequences. Irresponsiblity is not a mistake, it's irresponsiblity plain and simple. Hope this doesn't smear McCain campaign.

You mean that political people are actually allowed to have a normal family? One with kids that make mistakes and everything? WOW! Maybe there's some hope left for society after all.

I will bet the media will respect her wishes. Good article.
