McCain's Gustav Pandering Just Awful - - but Effective

There he was, John McCain, or as some of us have dubbed him, Nosferatu, sucking the political blood out of a potential disaster like Hurricane Gustav. McCain, and his vampire ditty folk - - the heads of the Republican National Convention - - were all over the news on Sunday, talking about how they had suspended their "usual activities" because at this time they felt that it was necessary for all of us to "be Americans" and "not Republicans".

Gee, thanks, Johnny Boy. While my favorite city in the nation, and one of the most important historically, may once again drown under a cutely named monster storm, you guys are going to "take off" your "Republican hats" and put on your "American hats".

So, no champagne, no whiskey, no fancy finger foods will be flowing in St. Paul on Monday night - - hell, maybe on Tuesday night - - while we figure out the extent of the damage in the Deep South because of Gustav.

So freaking kind of you and the rest of you "regular loving folk" Republican Party, Mr. McCain. Did you forget, or do you need me to remind you, that the reasons New Orleans drowned the first time is because nobody took care of the issues that were going on in New Orleans before Katrina hit? No plan from FEMA and your party, your president, Georgie Boy Bush?

Oh, yes, Georgie Boy won't be speaking at the Republican National Convention because he will be too busy hanging out in Texas, his home state, at the National Hurricane Center, receiving updates regarding this disaster. So kind of George Bush to spend time out of his hectic schedule to take his tie off and sit around a desk with a bunch of other Texans.

Seriously, folks, are we really buying this? I mean, come on, people. George Bush said today that Texas had "good people living there, hospitable people". That's what the President of the Untied States has to ad to this? That he's in a good breeding state?
