The are several health benefits in using a home sauna. One such benefit is detoxification. Detoxification is important for everyone, however, it can be an essential form of treatment for the perso
n with MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivity).

According to Dr Myhill (www.drmyhill.co.uk) we are being exposed to a wide range of new chemicals at an alarming rate. In the past 50 years it's estimated that 5 million new chemicals were created and at least 75,000 of those chemicals are in regular use every single day. Dr Myhill also states that less than 10% of these chemicals have had any sort of toxicity testing done on them.

Chemicals are everywhere and there are fewer and fewer places to escape their wrath. Chemicals are in our food, water and air. They are in our personal care products, cleaning products, furniture, clothing, on our lawns, in our cars, at the workplace - they are everywhere. These toxins enter our bodies through the mouth, nose, eyes and skin. Many of them accumulate in our bodies until our bodies can hold no more and, my belief is, when our bodies can hold no more it results in illness. The amount of chemicals your body is currently dealing with is often referred to as your 'toxic load'.

If you've had MCS for any length of time you've probably made your home or a single room within your home into a safe haven. Your safe haven may well be the one and only place you are able to escape most of the chemicals of the outer world. For the person with MCS it is essential to reduce the body's toxic load which, in turn, may make them able to tolerate inadvertent exposures to chemicals when they have to venture out of their safe haven and into the chemically laden world.

The body can detoxify chemicals through the liver, or excrete them through the skin or via exhaling. To excrete efficiently excrete these chemicals the body must generate enough heat - which means the body must sweat.
