And What is Palin Thinking?

PREFACE: Should we be proud that a potential Vice President of the United States has a pregnant 17 year old? Governor Palin is happy to be a grandparent. Am I missing something? I just heard Obama say that families especially children were off limits when it comes to campaigning. I understand what h
e is saying but isn't it important that this conservative Governor of Alaska could not bring up her child with her own values? I am just assuming that this families' goals weren't to be raising their daughter's baby; not to have their 17 year old marrying her boyfriend or the child's father. Certainly this is not a role model that we want to promote. Barack Obama is pro-choice; he will be a President who will work hard to prevent unwanted babies. How can this Governor govern and stand by her own values when her own family has failed. This is a great seque into what I want to say.

Between 1924 and 1954, the Pledge of Allegiance was worded:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands; one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

In 1954, during the McCarthy era and communism scare, Congress passed a bill, which was signed into law, to add the words "under God." The current Pledge reads:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands; one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." The Pledge is recited, on average, tens of millions of times a day -- largely by students in schools across America.

I don't believe the errors in my article are my fault. They are all too strange and certainly something the spell checker would have picked up. In any case I asked AC to fix them and got this "Once content is published on the site, we will not make edits to typos and the like. We simply do not have the staff bandwidth to handle making changes on a good portion of our million or so articles on the site. We apologize for the inconvenience." So when are we going to be able to edit?

I totally understand. I was going to do an article but...this was enough. I couldn't finish watching her last night. Off to read your article...

Great job on this Jo - I think the reason this election is so upsetting is we sat through 2 others that should never have happened! I finally wrote about Palin and i was going to stop but I just couldn't LOL

We can all teach our children the "right way" all day long, but in the end they have their own free will. Dare I say that there's lots of unmarried kids with upstanding parents out there having sex, but just not getting "caught" by becoming pregnant. I hesitate to cast any stones at anyone, regardless of where I stand politically.

For the country's sake I sure hope we're right or left as the case may be

Yes, whether you like Obama or not he was gracious about the news. More so than I - for sure

I love the fact she doesn't want sex education taught in the schools! And I have a hard time believing her daughter was home 5 months with mono and that Sara out of the blue announces she is 7 months along and then puts the baby at risk with giving her speech after her water broke? Give me a break that child has to be the kids and now she is having another - what a great job of education going on in that house!! And who is going to support that baby? the KIDS who are having it or the great state of Alaska? Maybe they can all move to WA should hell freeze over and McSame is elected. shows what a joke the republicans have become

I really enjoy your articles and enjoyed reading this one, although I disagree. I do think Obama has had a gracious reaction to the news that Gov. Palin's daughter is pregnant.
