VP-Select Sarah Palin's Teenage Daughter is Pregnant

While the media is paying attention to one storm, Hurricane Gustav, another one is brewing for the GOP. The New York Times, CNN and other news outlets have confirmed that the 17-year-old dauggter of Alaska Governor and VP-select, Sarah Palin, is five months pregnant.

Senator Barack Obama's response to the news of Palin's daughter's pregnancy was as follows, according to the article Obama Says Palin Pregnancy "Off Limits" on FoxNews.com, "I think people's families are off limits, and people's children are especially off limits. This shouldn't be part of our politics, . . . It has no relevance to Governor Palin's performance as governor, or her potential performance as a VP. And so I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories."

According to published reports, Palin's daughter, Bristol, plans to marry the father of the child, who is only listed by a first name (Levi).

Palin's Daughter Pregnancy: When Did Senator McCain Know?

Published reports are mixed on when Senator John McCain knew of Palin's daughther's pregnancy. According to the New York Times article, Palin's Teen Daughter Is Pregnant; New G.O.P. Tumult, Steve Schmidt, the chief strategist for Senator's McCain's campaign, the senator found out during a "private conversation." He refused to say whether it was before or after she was selected.

According to the CNN article, Teen daughter of GOP VP pick is pregnant, Senator McCain knew before selecting Governor Palin as his VP. The article states, "John McCain was aware of Bristol Palin's pregnancy before he chose her mother for his running mate, a top adviser to the Republican presidential candidate said."
