In May we traveled to Playa del Carmen, Mexico for our honeymoon. We spent about a month researching different locations to travel to. We chose Mexico because we were able to get the most for our mone
y as a few travel agents informed us. We stayed at an all inclusive resort which is quite common in this area. It is very convenient to have all meals and beverages included eliminating the need to carry a wallet around the resort. Many resorts that we looked into had access to their own stretch of beach including lounge chairs. Playa del Carmen is a lovely area. The main attraction is 5th Avenue. Much like the popular 5th Avenue of New York it is a long stretch of road filled with shops. There are shops for everything you could imagine. They have everything from high end merchandise to the cheapest souvenirs. Most souvenirs sell liquor and even offer tasting. Make sure you get some tequila. Even if you don't like tequila you will find something you enjoy. At the end of 5th avenue is the pier for the ferry to Cozumel. Cozumel is famous for scuba diving and home to many beautiful reefs. This is one of the reasons we picked Playa del Carmen. It was so nice to be able to go to Cozumel for one of the days. Cozumel has some great shopping as well.
