Taking Notes for Class

If you want to understand that advanced psych class, you must take good notes as well as review them for the next class. This is the only way to really succeed in that class. Some very successful college students actually rewrite all the notes they took in class. When class is over, go home and fill
out all the abbreviations, see if you can understand the notes you took, and correct anything that may be incorrect or incomplete. It helps some students to write there own thoughts or to express there feelings in the notes.

The main reason that you should review your notes is because it will help learn the material for the test. The sooner you start studying for them the easier the test will be. Imagine you having three weeks worth of study for a test as you watch your classmates struggle the night before to jam 5 chapters of material into there head. You will come to the test better prepared and have the confidence to take the test in stride.

It may take some time to review your notes for each class on top of doing any required assignment for the class. You're going to have to develop a system to do these things but it will be worth it in the long run. If you work at doing this before every class you will have better class participation and in turn have better test scores.

Why does it help to review notes? I'll tell you. The average person remembers only twenty percent of what they read, forty percent of what they hear and sixty percent if they write it. Can you see why it would help to hear your teacher talk about the subject, you writing it down, and the reading it for the next class? By taking good notes and reviewing them before class you will retain the material much easier.
