Alternative High Blood Pressure Medicine
High blood pressure is a very common health condition and effects about one in every five person. In most of the cases, the condition goes unnoticed as high blood pressure does not have any clear cut symptoms. The common
symptoms are dizziness, headaches and nosebleeds. There are no specific causes for this condition. Many things like hypertension, anxiety, stress, weight gain, age, tobacco use, alcohol consumption, sedentary or inactive lifestyle and family history can be a cause for High Blood Pressure. Some of the things that have been found to be effective in treating hypertension are:
Folic Acid: Folate is a vitamin B and is involved in the formation of red blood cells. It has been shown to reduce blood pressure by lowering the homocysteine level which is generally elevated in hypertension patients.
Fish oil: Fish oil supplements have DHA (docohexaenoic acid) and EPA ( eicosapentaenoic acid). DHA has been shown to lower high blood pressure and can have modest effect on it.
Hawthorn: This herb is used to treat high blood pressure and is shown to reduce high diastolic pressure. It does not interfere or interact with high blood pressure medications.
Garlic: Garlic supplements have been shown to effect people with mild high blood pressure. Medical supervision should be taken before using the garlic supplement as it has a blood thinning effect similar to that of aspirin and also interacts with many drugs and supplements like Coumadin, aspirin, vitamin E and gingko.
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10): Coenzyme Q10 supplement have been shown to reduce systolic as well as diastolic pressure.
