Being together as a couple is great but couples are made up of individuals that sometimes need their own space. Do you complain or feel left out when he wants to watch the game with the guys? Do you get jealous when she wants to go out with a friend? Why? Don't you both deserve to have friends, hobbies or just some space of your own? Of course you do.

Just because you have each other it doesn't mean you can't have friends or time to do something you enjoy on your own. Love isn't possessive; it is tolerant, compassionate, giving and understanding. Relationships sometimes fail because a partner feels smothered or neglected. Misunderstandings can be avoided through proper communication. It is important to be comfortable enough to express your feelings openly and honestly with your partner. It is also important to be a good listener.

We often tend to make assumptions in relationships. For example, you might commit the two of you to an outing without asking your partner's opinion. You made an assumption without knowing if your partner is in agreement; you just assume that he or she won't mind. Perhaps your partner had other plans or at the very least would appreciate being asked. How often have you said or heard someone say, "My wife won't mind?" Are you absolutely sure about that or are you just assuming that she won't mind? Show your partner the courtesy of discussing things with him or her before accepting invitations or making commitments.

Love can be shown in many ways and by giving each other your own space you are also showing love and respect for each other. Work together to create agreeable arrangements so you can have family time, couple time and time for yourself. Even if you only take a couple of hours each week for yourself you'll feel less stressed and have more energy to put into your relationship and family time.

I completely agree. If you really love a person, give them air.
