thinking about written. It can be a very frustrating experience for any writer, especially when you are faced with a deadline.

Why do you have writer's block? Fear, laziness, self-doubt? There are a lot of reasons for writer's block, and many ways of getting around it. The following methods for beating writer's block encompass all the different causes. Pick the one that works for your and get writing!

Make the decision to write

More goals are achieved if you verbally announce, or write down, the fact that you will achieve them. As simple as it sounds, making the decision to write is the first step in fighting writer's block. If you firmly state that you are going to write something, no matter what, you are more apt to follow through.

Research and prepare

Before you sit down to write, research and prepare all of your notes on the subject before hand. If you have all the information running around in your brain, you will be more prepared to just sit down and write. Having to stop in the middle of writing to look something up again can interrupt the flow and increase the chances of writer's block.

Use an Outline or Template

If you already have some idea of what you want to write about, using an outline or a template is a great idea. Instead of jumping right in and writing the story or article, write down the main points or plot devices. This will provide a framework that you can build upon.

Use a Writing Prompt

If you don't have any idea what you want to write, using a writing prompt is a great way to end writer's block. You can find many random writing prompts on the internet, or you can create your own. A great basic idea for a writing prompt is to open a magazine to a random page, pick one thing from that page, like a picture, and start writing about it.

Too often, I find myself hit square in the jaw by the proverbial "Writer's block". I find your advice to be correct when I am composing a poem. A lot of times, what begins as a bit of "mumbo-jumbo" can turn into something that a writer is quite proud of finishing.

I found this article to be very helpful. It reminds you that there are reasons for writer's block and steps you can take to overcome it. Sometimes we need someone to remind us that we shouldn't feel incompetent because of writer's block; writer's block is something most every writer experiences at one time or another. Very good article.
