If we talk about diets we don't have to forget about very important factor - the metabolism. The definition of metabolism is - the rate at which your body processes food. Or if you would like to explain it to a nutshell - metabolism is how fast your body burns calories. This means - the faster your metabolism, the more food you can eat without gaining pounds. Is there a way how you can control your metabolism - make it work faster or slower? The answer is simple - yes we can by eating a nutrient-dense meal every tree to 3 and 3,5 hours. By doing this, practice "stokes your internal furnace" for lack of a better analogy.

If we think of your body as an old-style locomotive that had coal shoveled into the combustion chamber one shovel at a time. What happens if you didn't shovel in coal fast enough in the locomotives furnace, the locomotive would slow down, and if we talk about your body there is no difference. If you change your eating habits or if you don't eat often enough, your metabolism slows down and you don't burn through calories quick enough. In this process not only does your rate of calorie consumption go down, but your body starts storing almost everything that you do eat as body fat! This means - every time you starve yourself in your honest effort to "stick to your diet", you are actually slowing down your metabolism as well.
