"Whenever you think of a beautiful woman the name Grace Kelly comes to mind. For most people she is remembered as a talented screen actress and an American princess that just brings a twinkle to everyone's eyes."November 12, 1929 Grace Patricia Kelly was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to prominent parents John Brendan Kelly, Sr. an Irish American Catholic and Margaret Katherine Kelly, a German American Catholic and with two sisters and a brother. John Kelly was a wealthy millionaire who was a former gold-medal winning Olympic sculler. In her early age she desired to become an actress. The family had opposed her of being an actress. At age ten, Grace made her own theatrical debut production. Childhood friend Alice Godfrey and Grace made their stage debut at the age of 12, in a leading role in Don't Feed the Animals, a play produced by the Old Academy Players. According to Mrs. Kelly, Grace was a shy child, "a shy child, but there was a kind of inner tranquility and quiet resourcefulness" she said. Although often, Grace was a sickly child, whom her mother would let her stay indoors while her siblings were outside playing.
Grace was sent to the Ravenhil Convent School in the parish of Saint Bridget's, where she would be schooled there for nine years until she transformed to Stevens School in Germantown. Grace was an excellent achiever and remarked as one of the brightest children. She graduated from Germantown High School to New York to pursue a modeling and acting career. She made a stage debut in the Broadway production of The Father by August Strindberg.
