A New Year's Eve Celebration is a great reason to get together with friends, and often a great excuse to imbibe our favorite alcoholic spirits. While the two factors together already add up to an appealing evening, adding a games into the festivities can make for a memorable and spirited evening.
If you have a set of dice lying around, it's easy to introduce some simple drinking games for a round of sheer fun. Before you begin, be sure to designate drivers or be sure your guests have comfortable sleeping accommodations, then let the good times roll...
HIGH AND LOW
Determine a player to start the game. Beginning with the starting player, each player rolls the die. Whatever number the die lands on, is the player's point value. After every player in the group has rolled the die and has a point value, the player with the highest point value has to take a drink (or a shot, depending upon your preference for playing.)
If two or more players have the same point value, a roll off is required. Each of the tied players rolls the die. Whatever number the die lands on is the player's point value. After every player who is tied for point value has completed their tie-breaking roll, the player who now has the highest point value has to take a drink.
If, on the tie-breaking roll, two or more players again roll the same point value, then consequently, they all must take a drink.
All players re-join the group. The game then begins again, following the same pattern.
PLACE YOUR BEST BET
Determine a player to start the game. The starting player directs the group to "place your best bet."
Each player must guess what number (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6) that will be rolled and place their bet by holding up the number of fingers corresponding to their choice. For example, two fingers for a guess of 2. To bet 6, players make a fist.
The starting player then rolls the die. If any betting player guesses the number correctly, they win and do not have to drink. Those players who do not guess correctly must take a drink.
As a variation, for a slower-paced game, you may reverse the roles and have the winning players take a drink instead of the losing guessers.
