There are thousands of types of yoga asanas or yoga poses. But amongst these, Bikram yoga is one of the most powerful and highly effective types of yoga. This yoga was first founded by Bikram Choudhary in India in 1946. It was first popularized by Choudhary, who mastered the art of Hatha Yoga, learned from his mentor Mr. Bishnu Ghosh.

This type of yoga is very strenuous and demands extreme physical fitness and flexibility. So it is advisable that you first practice easier yoga types and then make your body stronger and flexible enough before going for this one. Bikram yoga is practiced under more than 100 degrees temperature in a closed room. There is absolute absence of humidity while practicing this yoga and temperature is set to low when you are beginner in the class. The major benefit of this yoga is it makes your body stronger, faster, and flexible and finally it leads to the unity of your mental and physical states.

Bikram yoga constitutes around twenty-six poses or postures and mainly two breathing asanas or sitting postures. Here asanas refer to the close unity in between God and your own spirit. It is mandatory that you should practice this yoga with empty stomach; but a glass of water will be fine before start practicing. These 26 asanas are performed in a series fashion starting from basic meditation pose and slowly leading to the more advanced poses. During all of these asanas you are supposed to breathe through only your nose and not through the mouth which should happen naturally and not forcefully. These activities release all the unnecessary stress and strain from your muscles and provide your body great amount of strength and flexibility.
