The 28th Annual Fall Festival will again bring dozens of craft vendors to downtown Nashville, Illinois, on the weekend of September 26-28, 2008. More than 100 craft and food booths will be set up and doing brisk business.

The craft vendors with their variety of wares are the colorful centerpiece of the annual event that draws a flood of visitors. All vendors are carefully chosen to offer only items that are handcrafted and not mass-produced. Sale items often range from alpaca yarn to yard signs to candles to cat beds made from converted computer monitors.

Music

Musical entertainment this year includes frequent Fall Festival performer J. Christopher, The World's Most Dangerous One Man Band, who opens at the main stage at 4pm Friday. It sounds like a vaudeville act but he's actually quite an accomplished musician. Lori Eisenhauer follows at 8pm. Saturday, Bob"s Your Uncle is at 4pm followed by The Ultraviolets at 8pm, and Sunday, Los Ruedas featuring Robert Barboza performs at 11:30am.

Other scheduled main stage events include performances by students of Sonya's Gotta Dance, demonstrations by students of Jamie's Tumbling, a Guitar Hero Contest, and there will be Sunday afternoon Bingo at 2pm.

Another highlight is the annual Children's Pet Parade at 10am Saturday, with registration beginning at 9am. A variety of animals are paraded by their young owners and is a great crowd-pleaser.

Sponsored by the Nashville Chamber of Commerce, the Fall Festival is located on the grounds and on the streets around the Washington County Courthouse. It is Nashville's premiere special event.

More Events

A ceremony honoring Nashville First Responders will be held Sunday at 1pm.

The food court on the street behind the courthouse provides a wide range of offerings, from pork burgers, turkey legs, and fish sandwiches to ice cream, funnel cakes, and hot dogs. Food booths open daily at 10am, with the exception of the Breakfast Booth which opens Friday and Saturday morning between six and 10 am.
