This person who is not running for office would be the perfect pick.

He (which immediately disqualifies him for some, but nevertheless)....
He doesn't drink, smoke, do drugs or tell lies.
He doesn't own ANY houses, in fact he's not materialistic at all.
He's never committed adultery.
He loves both the elderly and children. He loves everyone.
He's seen much evil the world over and has visited people with compassion.
He can advise the nation as to its finances, military defenses, domestic and foreign issues, natural disasters and issues facing families.
He can tell us what NOT to worry about, and where to concentrate our efforts.
He would see us through to world peace.

Of course, many would still reject him. He's not good enough because...

He doesn't only talk "peace, love and joy" - contrary to some reports.
He speaks out about peoples' follies and even tells some people they're wrong.
He hangs out with "sinners" and dirty people...places you just don't go if you're dignified.
He doesn't fit the conventional mold, as much as people say they want "change".
He's too much of an upstart.
He prays in public too much.
His hair is too long, his feet dirty and he often sleeps outside.

The media would just make a mess of things for him:

They would twist his words until barely recognizable.
They might accuse him of starting a new "religion" instead of just trying to improve the old one; either way, he's politically incorrect.
They would ridicule his lifestyle.
They would ridicule and punish his associates for every wrong word, deed or past mistake.
Some people might even see to it that he is killed.

Want Perfection? GET JESUS.

Takeaways
  • Believe it or not, a flawless candidate.

Hay, was just surfing through a bit and found your poem/article and found it energizing. There are some good points made and a lot of truths. Nice poem!

Clever - but not so sure about the not drinking part - after all, the first miracle of Jesus was turning water into wine!

...finishing last entry...when they won't listen to God. For example, trespassing signs are often there for our own good. I knew a young man who disobeyed a no trespassing sign, dove into an empty swimming pool on a dark night, and broke his neck. God gives us warning signs of what can hurt us. If only people would open their hearts and eyes and look at God's words while asking Him for faith rather than being intent on tearing it down.

To Jack: Many people misconstrue Matthew 5:17-18 ("Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them") to mean He is saying everyone should follow the Old Testament to a T. Not at all. When He says "none of the words will disappear" - no they won't, but the later prophets, such as Isaiah 53, predicted Jesus would come to bear all of our sins, therefore nobody would need to suffer those kinds of punishments again. That's what he means by fulfilling them. Jesus spends the rest of Matthew 5 CORRECTING some things in the Old Testament and tells people NOT to do them that way! Isn't Jesus the one who said "he who sins not, cast the first stone?" This is just a start to the massive amount of information that is misunderstood today. The whole thing must be studied without taking verses out of context. God is non-exclusive, and wants everyone to know him. John 15:6 warns of the many destructive paths people take when they won

Jesus said: "If a man does not abide in me, he is cast forth as a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire and burned." -John 15:6. And Jesus instructed his followers to adhere to every part of Old Testament law (Matthew 5:18-20), the same Old Testament that encourages slavery and stoning to death your own children if they stray from God. I don't know about anybody else, but Jesus sounds like a far more dangerous choice than even Dick Cheney. It's too bad people don't study these mythical figures before worshiping them.

I would prefer that people be self leaders, in charge of their own thoughts and actions.. .no bowing down to any external agency.

Another great article to read from Mrs. Young.

We once had to take a test in a college ethics class - it listed different people running for President (person A, B, C,D and E) and 10 things about them. Based on that you made a choice - the winner? Hitler by 89% Pretty Scary. As very frightened I am by the Rep. VP choice and that she (and McCain) honestly think her living by Russia makes her knowledgeable and experienced in foreign affairs, I always try and remember this test! :-)
