Interesting Facts Emerge in the Pick of Palin for VP

Sarah Palin's comment(s) during her speech at the RNC on Wednesday night attacking the media seem ill-chosen. Excerpt: "But here's a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators. I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion...."

It seemed odd, to me, that the young Governor from Alaska would lay down the gauntlet ("them's fighting words") and attack the press unbidden---the same press which John McCain has courted for years with frequent guest appearances on "Saturday Night Live," among others, where he always came off an an amiable old coot. Why assume that the press is Palin's enemy and potentially make enemies of those who are merely doing their job in reporting the facts of her background ? Aren't there enough real enemies out there to attack without making the assumption that the press is out to get her, thereby alienating them in the process?

Then comes word from Eagle River, Alaska, that Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan has shown the Washington Post e-mails from Sarah Palin that support his contention that he was dismissed for failing to fire Trooper Mike Wooten, her sister's ex-husband, who was feuding with the Palin family over custody and other family issues.

The February 7, 2007, e-mail came after Sarah Palin's husband, Todd, met with Monegan, asking for disciplinary action against Wooten. Wooten's offenses included "shooting a cow moose without a permit, tasering his stepson, and drinking while driving a trooper vehicle," according to the Washington Post. A phone call from Palin to Monnegan followed.

Excerpt from Palin's e-mails: "I know you know I've experienced a lot of frustration with this issue. I know Todd's even expressed to you a lot of concern about our family's safety after this trooper (allegedly) threatened to kill a family member, so you need to know that if I am a supporter of whatever we can do to build trust back into the Department of Public Safety." So, as a result of all this, Sarah Palin is under investigation for abuse of power by the Alaska Public Safety commissioner.

They should have known that a virtual unknown candidate would get picked apart by the press! mcCain should have checked ALL of her closets before selecting her!

And don't forget what the McCain-Palin campaign henchman said to Time magazine. It's the height of arrogance for her to behave this way.

Anybody who abuses their position of power to try to fire a former brother in-law and Commissioner simply because of a personal vendetta and not on the basis of job merits is unethical, untrustoworthy and unfit to be a heart-beat from the highest office in the Land.

I hope the press does a very thorough examination of Ms Palin. We don't know much about her and if she and John McCain are elected, she could plausibly find herself president of the United States. It seems to me that the Press gave George W. Bush a free pass early in his first term. I think it emboldened him and in my opinion, the world is worse off because of that. Let's hope this never happens again.

I wouldn't want to fight her!
