Sarah Palin:It's More Than Sex. It's Youth Too

Women and Youth in Politics

I'm Bobby Tall Horse. I am a woman 55 years old and live in "flyover country". There are millions of women out here that in one way or another have something in common with me. And in turn have common ground with Sarah Palin.

I was raised to be a strong individual. A hard worker. I broke my own glass ceilings 35 years ago. It never dawned on me that I couldn't be an inspector, a truck driver or run hog units for people. I just did it. My youth and ignorance led me to take the jobs. I did them and I "earned"
the money I was paid. There were millions just like me breaking so-called glass ceilings everyday. It was called survival back then.

Fast forward to women in politics today. We have Sarah Palin front and center. I was surprised that John McCain picked her. I wanted to know Sarah Palin. Yes, she is a woman, but I wanted to know what made Sarah Palin different.

Sarah Palin gets my attention by wanting REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS to change their stiff necked, old boys club, what's in it for me, politicin' as usual garbage. She wants us to look at America and it's possibilities in a fresh new way. Ya know what? It's working for me.

I found myself groaning when Ridge and Graham took the RNC stage. I sought the remote when Biden talked. I saw Trent Lott and looked for moth balls. I hadn't seen him since Katrina. Then an even odder thing happened.

I saw Kay Bailey Hutchison and Nancy Pelosi and found myself rebuking them both and wishing to God that we could just take a broom and start sweeping out Washington D.C. I discovered it's not a "women in politics" thing for me. I found I just relish new blood in both parties. I'm tired of Democrats tying up drilling for our own oil and promising health care and college for everyone. Duh, who's going to pay for it friends? I'm tired of Republicans looking like dinosaurs and not fighting out loud for what needs to be done in Washington lest the lobbyists and special groups tag them as uncaring and mean.

This country is going to have to give women and youth a shot at politics. Sarah Palin promotes both.

With all that i have read lately I don't see a difference in Her and any other "ole Boy" career politicans. Plus " I'm tired of seeing the old war horses in NOW" isn't That McCain? He is the One running for President Not Palin. If She is the One as many think Why has she been hid out from reporters? Does she need that much pratice to know what her opions are? In no way am i Diss'n anyone on thier own Politics. Its just as i see it '

Because I've seen so many last minute things come to light, I'm reserving political judgments right up until voting day. I've been fooled before, so I'm wary. There were some political surprises I never saw coming. I'm still learning more about Palin and every candidate out there. I enjoyed reading this article and I hope people can debate and discuss all the candidates on AC openly and politely.I've been encouraged by much of what I've seen so far :)

Take heart Sara. My mindset politically is not the same now as when I was a youth. When younger politicians start stepping up and actually get into office, I think young people will stop and actually listen and perhaps put that energy into some wonderful ideas that turn this country around on all levels.
