What Does Spirituality Really Mean?

The term spirituality has been around in our society dating back to thousands of years ago ever since man has potentially evolved into supreme, intelligent beings. Societies have regarded spirituality in multitude of terms. From the ancient philosophy of Vedanta which originated from
India, spirituality has been described as an unmanifest Universal force called Brahman. The Catholics however, regard this same force as the Holy Spirit, while Quakers consider it as the Light.

Believers of Christianity deemed that the Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ is able to manifest Itself into human beings making human and God as one. This manifestation is particularly true as the followers of Christianity have studied the Bible comprehensively revealing many secrets which many have been appeared in complex parables and phrases contain in the Holy Bible. Believers of Christianity believe that the manifestation of the Holy Spirit into human beings is inline with God's Eternal Economy. Vedantists also hold their believe that this Spirit is able to be incorporated or manifested into living beings where it is called Atman or Self. According to the Vedantic scriptures, the goal of living is to become aware of the Self, the Light within, and become one with it.

In our modern society, spirituality has become an important aspect in our lives. Without our conscience, spirituality has somehow directly and indirectly influence our daily livelihood. Many have sought refuge in multitude of religions hoping that it would decrease their sufferings in different aspects of their lives. The problem of meaninglessness, as described by Max Weber in "disenchantment of die world", has also plagued our society sparking concerns of the importance of the presence of spirituality in our lives.
