Some people find writing articles and college term papers to be challenging. They really sweat it out coming up with those 5 or 10 page papers. I know because I am a college student and I hear it all the time from fellow students. I also am a freelance writer and I belong to several online forums where other writers get together and chat about what it is like to come up with new topics and content for articles. Read on and I will share some things that I have found to be helpful both as a college student and as a writer.

Writing a paper is all about transmitting information. The writer is putting down on paper thoughts about a subject that they are interested in, or that they have been asked to write about. Getting those thoughts from the brain to the paper tends to be the tricky part. Here are some simple but powerful guides.

Tip 1

Create a title that grabs your reader's attention. The title should tell the reader what the article or paper will be about. Using adjectives in the title is helpful to intrigue readers and make them really want to find out what you have to say. Your title can evoke the reader's emotions, stir their curiosity or invite them in with words like: How to, Great Tips, or What you've always wanted to know about....

Tip 2

Write about what you know about or what you are comfortable researching about. Unless of course you are told what to write about, then you need to research and discover information that you would be comfortable writing about.

Tip 3

Write short paragraphs. A paper is best remembered if it is actually read by the reader. When there are a lot of words like in really long paragraphs the reader gets overwhelmed and may stop reading. To keep your paragraphs short, try writing an outline listing your major points that you wish to make about the topic. Under each major point, write 3 supporting sentences that prove each point.

Use number, or bullets to separate ideas or really important sections to your paper (much like you see here....Tip 1, Tip 2). This helps to break up your paper, draw attention to major points you wish to make and grabs the reader's attention.
