VIPS strives to see the children as individuals and to personally assist each one to grow both in their interpersonal skills and in their course studies.
VIPS volunteers work in all fifty of the public schools in Providence engaging many children as tutors and mentors. But VIPS also reaches out through other programs in the schools that foster literacy, technological growth, and individual enrichment. Some VIPS volunteers even work with adults in ESL programs. By helping parents to learn the language volunteers are of course also helping entire families to adjust to life in the city of Providence, RI.
