Vehicle Security Tips for Halloween Night
Halloween is a very fun night that many look forward to every year. Unfortunately sometimes things can get out of hand. Here are some suggestions on how you can protect vehicular personal property such as bikes, motorbikes, cars, boats and trucks. If you have a
garage, make sure that all the vehicular items are locked safely away inside. If you have a carport then I have used heavy black plastic wrap to make temporary walls and door to completely close off the carport area. It's a bit of expense to do this but that is nothing compared to the cost of repairing some of the types of Halloween tricks that can be played on your cars, bikes and motorcycles. I have even see the propellers taken off of a boat's out board motor.
If you have neither a garage nor carport and have no friends that have room in their own to allow you to share then here is my advice. Put anything small enough, such as bikes and motor bikes into the house. Put paper or plastic under the items to avoid problems from drips. Do not heave the items outside or you may find them missing totally or missing parts. Even if left alone component wise at minimum they could have paint scratches, soap marks on windows and mirrors and have sugar poured into the fuel tanks. Bottom line - do not leave them unprotected outside.
In fact if you do leave them outside unprotected you may find that your insurance will not cover them because of negligence on your part. I have even taken my car or truck and put all the kids' bikes into the back or trunk and taken the vehicle to a covered garage downtown. I paid for 12 hours overnight parking in a secured lock at night facility so that I could rest assured my vehicles were protected and covered by insurance in case anything did happen. Knowing our boat and trailer were safe and under wraps was particularly nice.
