Sarah Palin: A Republican Puppet?

Is She Capable of Talking Without a Republican Hand Up Her Back?

We've seen quite a bit of John McCain's VP pick, Sarah Palin, since he announced her to the world on the Friday before the Republican National Convention, but we haven't heard much from her, except what she's been reading off of teleprompters and note cards and that doesn't seem likely to change anytime soon.

According to ABC News, Rick Davis, campaign manager for Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., told Fox News Channel's Chris Wallace that McCain running mate Gov. Sarah Palin won't subject herself to any tough questions from reporters "until the point in time when she'll be treated with respect and deference."

Now what exactly does that mean? Does that mean that Palin can continue her perfectly manicured cue card attacks without the worry of having to answer unscripted, hard hitting questions from the press like every other candidate? If that is true it doesn't seem quite fair.

Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and even John McCain have been subject to attacks and public scrutiny since announcing their candidacies. They've given interviews to every major network and sat back as either their stock rose or fell based on those interviews, but now for the first time in history, well as long as I can remember, we have a Vice President candidate that won't do interviews and that won't answer unscripted questions?

It seems to me that Sarah Palin, the self proclaimed pit bull with lipstick, is no more than a pistol for the Republican Party. They take her out, aim, shoot of a few rounds, make a complete mess and then put her back in the holster. Yes that sounds like everything that the American people want in a Vice President.

Not only is the notion of a Vice President candidate not answering questions from the press absolutely ridiculous, but it also speaks volumes about the Republican campaign and Sarah Palin herself.

She has said over and over again, cue cards included, that she has plenty of political and executive experience having been on city council, having been a mayor and now having been the Governor of Alaska for a whole year and a half, but in light of all that experience she is still scared to field questions from the press?

Sarah Palin: A Republican Puppet?

We've heard her hurl insults, but what does she stand for?

Takeaways
  • Republicans are shielding Palin from the press. Is that fair?
  • How can we know what a candidate is about if they refuse to talk without help?

Obama has been vilified so why should she be any different? Does she get a pass on having no experience, having a crappy record and not having to give interviews and real answers because she has a vagina? Now who's being sexist. This woman is grossly unqualified and can't even be seriously compared with obama. She has a journalism degree. Left the town of wasilla in serious debt and she continues to lie along with McCain and the only person calling obama a messiah is you silly republicans, because he's no savior just like mccain is no maverick.

Why doesn't Palin speak to the press? Have you noticed that every time Palin is speeking, she is behind a podium? Obama, Biden and McCain can speak in a public forum walking around and talking freely. Palin always talks from a prepared speech in front of her on the podium. She is being sheilded from the press and from being able to speek her mind freely and off the cuff. I belive the reason is that she does not have many original thoughts of her own, and the ones that she does have would either cause controversy, alienate her from BOTH the Republicans and the Democrats, or aren't worth talking about in the first place.

As to your last comment "The republicans are turning this into a big joke...just politics as usual instead of issues." WRONG! This IS NOT just the regular Republican tricks and evil doings. Obama's character IS THE ISSUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Y'all just don't like that his lack of character is the issue, so you want to change it. Life's tough, huh?

Sl, if you cannot honestly admit that this woman, in her first 7 days in the national spotlight was vilified, then you are a partisan, which is fine, just don't pretend to be non-aligned and defame and attack this person under the guise of "Honesty." It's not a crime to be partisan, but your position is clearly a "Republican's Suck" message, so if I assume you're pushing an agenda, oh well . . . . And have you seen the new USA Today/CBS poll released this morning? McCain 54% - Obama 44% -that's TEN points there SL. This nation, again demonstrating its inherent shallowness, jumped on the Messianic bandwagon, but the closer we get to the election, the more and more we experience that "Buyer's Remorse" you're always hearing about. Seems a boatload of "buyers" are suffering their remorse, and now they want to return the item for their money back! Sweet!

Any one who wants Genesis to be taught to all children in school does not belong in office. Maybe should become a nun? or something

Totally agree with everything you said!

Oh so i get it, she should be shielded from the press because they "might" ask her something about her kids or they might ask her about her record or her beliefs. They might ask her a whole host of things. Welcome to Politics!!!

lol exactly how can I or anyone else agree or disagree with her "politics" if she won't even say anything. Stop making excuses for this woman. She accused Hillary Clinton of whining, but it looks like the only ones whining are the ones on John McCain's staff. Either you want her treated like everyone else or you don't, but don't think that people won't see threw the games their playing.

Yeah, and it's also the first time a Conservative woman has been on the ticket. Geraldine Ferraro was not so questioned. No one challenged her dedication to kids and family when she was on the ticket, and if they had they should have been rightly vilified. Palin ain't being "shielded" from those mean old journalists asking POLICY questions. She is being shielded from being asked "Are you really the mother of the retarded kid?" (YES, i used those words on purpose) and "How can you be a good VP if you have a pregnant daughter?" Gee SL, what is your point here? Oh nevermind, now I get it. You are another one of those - ya know, if I don't agree with your political opinion I ridicule and vilify you - types, ain't ya? You are a partisan apologist, but ya better get over it. Your boy is in for a 5 point spanking come November. Wanna bet? Don't cry now cause ya don't get your way.
