Anytime you go to a place you've never been before it's difficult to tell, without recommendations, where's the best place to stay. On your own you can probably find decent accommodations but the entire trip can go wrong if you end up with a room that has faults and is expensive to boot.

One great place to stay while in Australia is The Russell at The Rocks, Sydney. This bed and breakfast is located in the old quarter of the city but is quite accommodating. If rustic is what you like you'll be very comfortable here.

Echoes Hotel and Restaurant, Blue Mountains, Katoomba, NSW overlooks Jamison Valley. Breathtaking views, fabulous rooms and comfort galore awaits you at this hotel.

The Barrington Guest House at Barrington Tops National Park, The Hunter, NSW is just outside of the park. Gracious and luxurious this hotel offers plenty of chances to see native animals and even go horseback riding.

Ulladulla Guest House in Ulladulla, NSW is a very unique hotel with beautiful hanging art, great food and gorgeous rooms. The staff is impressive and so is the pool.

Waverley at Brisbane, QLD is bordered by gift shops and galleries of Paddington. The rooms are great and there's a fantastic deck where you can view nature at its finest.

Lilybank Bed and Breakfast in Cairns, QLD is the former home of Cairns mayor, built in the 1890s. You'll enjoy the gardens and verandas as well as the impressive rooms.

Marae, near Port Douglas, QLD features a delicious breakfast after sleeping in a cool room with a great pool outdoors. You'll love the service and at-ease feeling you'll have when you stay here.

The Rocks in Townsville, QLD will find you surrounded in Victorian elegance. Some of the best features are the claw-foot tub and the veranda where guests often meet for after-dark drinks.

The Summer House in Darwin, NT has made quite an effort to decorate in a whimsical, 70's style for their guests. Tropical gardens add to the experience.

Hansons Swan Valley near Perth, WA is a bed and breakfast for the younger crowd. The retreat is a quick drive from Perth and is snuggled into the Swan Valley vineyards.

Takeaways
  • Accommodations, while traveling, can be very expensive but there are some bargains out there.
  • Remote lodging offers the opportunity to see kangaroos and other wildlife outside your window.
  • Bed and breakfast lodgings can often accommodate only a few couples, making them feel more like home
Did You Know?
Hotels that are right on the waterfront are usually more expensive than ones just a mile or so away.

There is a new Crowne Plaza reosrt in the Hunter Valley. It is something that you have to experience for yourself...I strongly reccommend it.
