In a year where gas prices are soaring and everyone is talking about living green, there is still a love for the power, style and design of classic cars. I can see why. The cars of today all look alike. They all have the same color scheme and the only way to make them look different is by buying bigger wheels or fancy rims.

In the past automotive designers made sure that their vehicles had details, design and engines that distinguished it among other models. When you walked up to a Chevy Impala, with its long sleek body, you could not mistake it for a Ford Mustang. Classic cars are so loved that we have performers singing about them

Has anyone heard The Beach Boys sing about the little Deuce Coupe. She purrs like a kitten until the leg pipes roar. I have and I'm just 34.

So I asked around what people thought were the top classic cars of 2006. A lot of people gave their personal opinion, of course you had the arguments between the Ford lovers and the Chevy lovers but in the end I was able to come up with a list and find out that classic car lovers truly love their classic cars.

#1 Ford Mustang

The acronym for Ford is said to be found on roadside dead. Whatever it means, the Ford Mustang came in first for its engine power and body design. The Ford Mustang, especially the Shelby, just beckons to be revved up and raced. Add racing stripes down the middle of the car and you've got one hot vehicle.

I honestly think that Found On Roadside Dead was made up by a paramedic that saw all the vehicles that were wrapped around telephone poles and thrown in a ditch because drivers couldn't handle the racing ability

Ford is hearing the demand of guys and gals that want muscle cars. Ford will be producing a 2008 Boss that has a 390 horsepower 5.0 liter engine and Shelby suspension.

#2 Chevy Camaro

The Chevy Camaro is another steamy muscle car with its smooth aerodynamic design.

No sorry I have no sayings for the Chevy Camaro. I'm sure that my aunt and all other Chevy lovers would kill me if I did.

Please allow an old musclecar guy to give you an assist, Catherine. The Beach Boys were singing about Lake pipes, not leg pipes. Lake pipes were side exhausts which protruded from underneath and behind the front fenders. They were capped, and when one went racing, uncapped them to allow unrestricted exhaust, and bellowing engine rumble. They were manufactured by the Lake Company, hence the name.

Mistake in article...Cadillac's are not Chevy's. That's what I get for getting my information off the internet.
