There are tons of laundry detergents on the market to choose from, and although you can find top name brands on sale now and then, most people end up buying certain laundry detergents because they are cheap. Here is a product review for Sun Laundry Detergent.

Sun Laundry detergent original price is $4.99, but most stores sale it for $2.99. The one used for this review is a 125 oz bottle, priced at $1.99. The 125 oz bottle = 40 loads. Sun Laundry detergent can be brought at most local grocery store chains, Walgreen's and other retail stores like Wal-Mart. It lasts up to 4 to 6 weeks, depending on how often you do your laundry.

Ingredients: Contains anionic and/or nonionic surfactants.

Directions: for best results they suggest using a warm temperature, and pre-treat rough stains. When adding detergent to your loads, fill cap to line 1 for medium loads, line 2 for large loads, and use more for heavy loads. They also suggest pouring the detergent in the washing machine before adding the clothes.

Cleanliness: Fair. Two loads of laundry were washed: one colored and one white load. Each load received two caps of Sun Laundry detergent filled to line 2. The detergent was added after the clothes were put in the machine and washed for about 30 to 40 minutes. No bleach was added to the white clothes and there were no tough stains to pre-treat.

When the clothes were not as clean as I was expecting once they were taken out of the washing machine, dried and folded. The whites, in particular, looked less than favorable.

Freshness: Fair. After being removed from the laundry, the clothes smelled fresh but the smell quickly faded.

Rating: Fair. The price is good for forty loads, but there are far better laundry detergents on the market at Sun's price range or slightly above. If one was going to purchase this laundry detergent, I would suggest using it with only very small loads, and pre- treat with the detergent around the collars and cuffs of your shirts a day or two ahead. Also, use bleach with the detergent.

Takeaways
  • Sun Laundry Detergent on sale for $1.99
  • Most people tend to buy detergents that are inexpensive.
  • Ultimately, the clothes did not appear as clean as one would hope.
