Every good college dorm room needs some version of a standard cork board. Why not let yours showcase your style? This fun camouflage framed cork board project can be done in a standard military green style or a much more feminine pink camouflage detail.

For this project, you will need:

- Pink or military green camouflage fabric

- Quilter's batting

- Fabric scissors

- Fabric marking pen

- Ruler

- Hot glue gun with glue sticks

- Sheet of 3/4 inch thick crafting Styrofoam

- Large piece of cork board

- Craft knife

- ½ inch wide pink or black satin ribbon

Cut the cork board to the size in which you wish the final message board to be, carefully using a craft knife. Cut the sheet f 3/4 inch thick crafting Styrofoam to the same size. Set the cork board aside for later on in the project.

With the ruler and a marking pen, measure a square or rectangle (depending on your design) inside the Styrofoam sheet that is centered and exactly two inches smaller all around. With a craft knife, cut out this inner shape carefully. You should now have a "frame" shape of crafting Styrofoam.

Using fabric scissors, cut four pieces of quilter's batting into strips two inches thick and as long as the sides of your Styrofoam frame. Heat up the hot glue gun and glue sticks. Adhere the quilter's batting strips to the Styrofoam directly. Allow the glue to dry completely.

Lay the pink or military green camouflage fabric flat on your work area. With a ruler and a fabric marking pen, measure and mark strips of fabric that are two inches wide and fourteen inches long. Create several of these strips. Cut out each of the strips using fabric scissors.

Takeaways
  • Use a standard military green style or a much more feminine pink camouflage detail.
  • Cut a length of ½ inch wide satin ribbon and adhere both ends to the top of the back of the board.
  • Let the board dry overnight before hanging and using.
