This Holiday season skip the mall and get out to Denver events that come only once a year for some winter fun. A great way for the family to get out, a date that's not another movie or something to bundle friends up and explore the wintry wonderlands of Denver.

The first activity that comes to mind for a lot of people during the Winter Season is Ice Skating. You can test your skills on the Ice at the Joy Burns Arena at Denver University. It's an indoor full size Ice rink open to the public on varying days and times. Check their public skate calender at the Denver University Recreation Website. One day to put on your list is the 23rd of December for the arena's Evening Holiday Skate from 7pm to 9pm, with Hot Chocolate and Cookies served up. At a fairly reasonably entry, it's $5 for Adults and $4 for kids 12 and under with a $2 Skate rental price, if you can gather up a group of 15 or more, it's $4 per person with free skate rentals. The arena is located off Buchtel Boulevard at DU's Ritchie Center and there is metered parking around or you can take the new RTD Light Rail to the Universtiy of Denver Stop on the E, F or H line.
