Vice Presidential Candidate Starts to Influence Popular Culture, Fashion
If Sarah Palin's political career falters, and so far it shows no sign of doing so, she might have a future as an action hero. A company called Hero Builders is offering a Sarah Palin action hero doll for sale.There are three models. One is a no frills model depicting Sarah Palin in a black jumpsuit. The second dresses Sarah Palin in a trench coat, miniskirt, and a pistol strapped to her leg (this is my personal favorite.) The third, suggesting some other kind of action, has Governor Sarah Palin in a kind of naughty school girl outfit.
Can the cartoon series, video game, and film deal be far behind? After all, if Arnold Schwarzenegger can translate from action hero to politician, perhaps Sarah Palin, if the ticket falls short in November, can change careers from politician to action hero. She's an athlete, so she can probably do most of her own stunts. And she knows how to operate fire arms.
On a more serious note, Sarah Palin is not the first politician to be honored by having an action figure created in her likeness. Hero Builders also offers a John McCain, a Barack Obama, and a Hillary Clinton, but apparently no Joe Biden. There is even a Larry Craig, complete with an "I am Not Gay" tee shirt and a Saddam Hussein, complete with hangman's rope. Both George Bushes, Ronald Reagan, and even pundit Ann Coulter have shown up in action hero doll form.
Sarah Palin has also apparently started to influence fashion. Her unique hairstyle, which in the opinion of this writer looks sort of like a Classic Trek female Enterprise crewmember, is starting to be copied by some. Others, especially stylists, turn their noses up at Sarah Palin's bun-like hair style, suggesting that she would do better to let it down a bit.
Glasses with the same frame that Sarah Palin uses goes for about 375 dollars sans lens. With the lens, the glasses can run upwards to 700 dollars.
One can be sure that a clothing line, complete with hunting outfit and hockey duds, cannot be far behind.

This is funny. I was wondering if these would be collectible... I half expected you to tell me that Sarah Palin's action figure came with a hunting rifle and stuffed moose!
