Halloween Care Packages for Soldiers

Sending a care package to a friend, loved one or family, no matter how distant the relationship is a very good idea. The effect on morale in a very positive way that these care packages is remarkable. Here are some ideas and information that can maximize the usefulness of the care
 package you will send.

Do not forget support troops
Let me say also that troops serving in other countries besides Iraq and Afghanistan need and deserve to receive a care package. Many of these troops are in difficult stations as well and most are providing support in one way or another to troops on combat duty.

Item Selection
Try your best to find out from other troops who have been in the country your package will go too, what type items are the most desired and most useful. It is also helpful to know which items can be sent in larger size containers and which should be sent in travel size. For the most part the travel size is best so that the soldier can easily take it with them out in the field.

Seasonal Nature
Remember if this is in connection with some specific U.S. holiday that at least two of the items in the package are some how connected to that season or holiday. If the box is for the birthday of a soldier then try to make sure at least 25% of the items are those the soldier receiving the care package considers special or personal in nature.

Container Tips
One good idea is to buy some items in bulk size and include about one dozen small containers. If given these options the soldier will take the product, such has hand or body lotion and divide it into the dozen smaller containers. They will share it with another soldier or more in his unit. You can check with the military about the normal size of the unit the soldier serves in but normally a dozen containers to use this way is greatly appreciated. Many people save the soldier the trouble of making up the small packages and do it for them, sending the lotions, hand cleaner or what ever already divided up into smaller containers. Be sure you mark every thing in the box with a generic explanation of what is in each small container.
