My Thoughts on Jessica Simpson

Jessica Simpson appeared on Good Morning America where she performed hit songs With You and Pray Out Loud. Jessica Simpson seems to be repackaging herself as a country singer. Yet her performances were lackluster. After listening to her, I wondered how those songs were able to hit quadruple platinum.

During her performance of With You, she stopped the band midway through. As Jessica Simpson said, "I know this is live television but could we just start it again and do it this way?" This stopping and starting reminded me of Brooke White from American Idol. Brooke White famously stopped the band during her performances, but she was overall a more talented singer than Jessica Simpson. Jessica Simpson's singing was flat and uninspired. Her new country twang sounded affected and contrived. I have heard more talented singers in the early audition rounds of American Idol. Whatever success she's had, it was not due to her musical talent. Although I enjoy Jessica Simpson as a celebrity, I think she may be better off selling shoes.

Jessica Simpson also plans to launch a line of lingerie and sleepwear.
