9 years after Princess Diana died in a car accident, Scotland Yard finally closes the case and attempts to discourage plot theories. Lord Stevens, chief investigator of the case and ex-chief of Scotland Yard, proclaimed that Princess Diana and Dodi al Fayed were not victims of a plot, but of the mistakes made by their French chauffeur Henri Paul.

The chauffeur pressed on the gas in order to get rid of persistent paparazzi, but ended up losing control of the car and crashing into the tunnel of Pont de l'Alma in Paris.

Lord Stevens denies the accusations made by Mohamed Al Fayed, Dodi's father, who claimed that the accident was a plot concocted by the British secret service.

Steven also said that Princess Di was not pregnant, and had she been wearing a seatbelt she might have been saved.

Darn that seatbelt. We just had a case that took us 3 years to finalize. I can't imagine the family having to go through that for 9 years. Sheesh

I had seen on CNN, I believe, that they discovered the chauffeur was drunk, which explains a whole lot.
