Toshiba Notebook Options, Accessories and Programs

The Satellite series of notebook computers from Toshiba not only include the Windows XP operating system and the other programs to run your notebook they also come with useful full versions and a couple trial versions of software. You can also purchase some additional software, accessories and additional items to make your notebook purchase complete.

The Toshiba Satellite A105 notebook that I was able to review had some very good software and features. It had the usual operating system in the form of Windows XP Media Center Edition. Windows XP has all kinds of added security and user friendly features as well as the addition of the Media Center which organizes and plays multi media content such as songs and movies.

One thing that is a must for any new computer to ensure you will be able to recover from a really serious computer error is a backup of Windows. The notebook I reviewed came with a backup copy of the installed programs but you should use the included program to create a backup DVD of your operating system just to be sure. For every one of my computers I make sure I have at least one copy of the recovery disc so that I can recover from a serious computer error by reinstalling the Windows operating system and programs onto the hard drive.

If your system fails from any number of serious errors or virus attacks the last resort before taking the computer to a shop or sending it in for repair is to reinstall the operating system onto the hard drive. This is a time consuming operation but is also the last resort when trying to get your computer running. You simply insert the disc into your CD/DVD drive and restart the computer. The drive will read the disc and start the recovery procedure after several confirmation and information steps. To have an extra copy of this recovery disc sitting around is extra protection that you can afford for every computer you own.
