Indiana Jones Halloween Costume

Indiana Jones is a great character choice for making a super Halloween costume. Here are some ideas to help you make a costume everyone will remember. The first thing you might do to prepare is to replay some Indiana Jones movies. In the middle of an action scene stop the movie and observe that even in the heat of battle, Indiana still has certain trade mark props with him.

Indiana Jones always has that wide brimmed, well worn, brown hat. How that hat stays on his head with all the action he goes through I have no idea. How ever it is that he does it, there it is. This prop is a must and an example of something you could find at the second hand or surplus store. He also has almost always a one strap over the neck light leather field bag. In one hand is either a whip or a gun. These are the props you need for your Indiana Jones costume. The gun should and must, be plastic. Frankly you don't need the gun if you can find a lightweight but good looking whip. The Dollar store probably has such a thing but it may be in bright colors and need to be spray painted a dirty brown. This morning I took another look at one of the Indiana Jones classics and noticed something else. In that field bag he usually has some fancy brass compass or desert sextant. Something that makes him technologically special, in addition to all the other things he thinks is so special about him.

Indiana Jones is so busy from scene one till the end of each movie that he always seems to need a bath. He always has a dirty face. So this is the type of make up we need you to have for your Halloween costume. Actors make up or even Army camouflage is what you need to match the Indiana Jones look and mystique. He also seems to always wear the same ditty brown shirt with a brown open vest and brown pants. His shoes are always rough and ready leather hiking type low cut shoes with leather laces. If you look closely his shoes always look like they are thirty years old and have never been shined. He would not know what to do with a pair of properly shined shoes.
