After leaving the Boca Raton area on a sun-seeking trip, we drove all the way to the beginning of the Keys and back up to Hollywood looking for a vacancy. Let me give you some advice. Before taking off
on a spur of the moment adventure, do check to see when the busy season is where you plan to go. Heh. There wasn't a room to be found for two nights other than at the Holiday Motel.

Now, Hollywood, Florida really isn't a bad little town at all. They have a pretty cool historic district with an old fashion town-center circle filled with nifty restaurants and whatnot. They also have a slew of no-tell motels lining route 1. This Holiday Motel is one of them.

This is a little bitty flea trap. I didn't count the rooms, but I'm guessing about 15 all together. Four of those are on the side-street side, the rest are in a U-shape around a very small swimming pool. The office is just a window. Actually, I believe the owner lives there. At any rate, he's a pretty nice fella. Seriously.

The room is not what you would normally hope for by any means. But for $45 per night during high season in Southern Florida, it was a bargain. We had two double beds, which consisted of a box spring topped by two very thin old mattresses each. Ordinarily, we'd be horrified. This time we just looked at each other and laughed about what readers everywhere would think once I wrote this review!

Let me tell ya... the walls are a cream colored, textured plaster, which is falling apart... the rug had obvious off-color patches in the middle and was ripping away from the walls, there was a 4 drawer dresser with a tiny TV, and as an added bonus there was another dresser standing on it's side wrapped in plastic in the corner. We were rollin'. But wait, I ain't near done yet...

Hey, I'm reading these backwards but I'm starting to see a theme here... you've made a great start on finding Florida's most dreadful motel.
