Make a Halloween Wall-E Costume for Kids
Fans of the movie Wall-e may want to take on the robotic character for Halloween. Learn how to make a Wall-e Halloween costume for your child. The materials for making this Wall-e Halloween costume are inexpensive and readily available. There are two Wall-e body options to choose from, one involves an entire cardboard box and the other uses pieces of the box instead.
Wall-E Halloween Costume: Sandwich Board Style
When you do not have a cardboard box large enough to cover a child's body comfortably, or you feel that your child will be too restricted wearing the stiff cardboard box, cut the box up so you have two large square or rectangular pieces.
Materials for the Sandwich Board Style Wall-E Costume
Two large pieces of cardboard
Straps - the straps may be made of ribbon, an old pair of suspenders or straps from an old pair of farmer's jeans.
Duct tape
Super glue or Velcro sewing strips
Measure the pieces of cardboard against the child's body.
On the side of the cardboard that will be facing the child's body, attach the straps. The straps should be a comfortable material since they will be resting on the child's shoulders.
Attach the ribbons, old suspenders or other straps to the center of the cardboard. Attach the other end to the other piece of cardboard, leaving enough strap material in the middle. The middle strap portion will rest on the child's shoulder. Use super glue, Duct tape or sewing Velcro dots to secure the strap to the cardboard.
Wall-E Halloween Costume with a Cardboard Box
Find a large cardboard box that a child can wear on his or her upper body. Consider the length of the box and the day's activities. If the child will be standing and walking around, a longer box can be used. If a child will be sitting in the costume, opt for a cardboard box which will not go past the child's waist.
There are a couple of ways to use the cardboard box for the child's Wall-e Halloween Costume. One way is to cut a round hole for the head on the top and the arms on the side. Remove the cardboard on the bottom of the box for the legs.
