Fight to Free Tony Medina

First let me tell you about the case and then let me introduce you to Anthony Medina.

It is impossible to completely simplify Tony`s case so that it will not confuse those reading about it for the first time. BUT, the fact is Tony`s case IS VERY SIMPLE. At trial the state was able to confuse the jury by overloading their thought process with street nicknames, pictures
 and irrelevant events that had nothing to do with the charge against him for the most part. We will try to break all of the confusion down to it`s simplest form in hopes you will see the injustice perpetrated against Tony by the state of Texas.

Among all the confusion surrounding the events of the early morning hours of January 1, 1996 there are a few FACTS which can not be disputed. The first of these is that the lives of two young people were taken before their time and their family was left heart-broken. At approximately 2:30 am on January 1, 1996 a passenger in a blue 4-door car opened fire with a AK-47 rifle into a group of people partying in front of a house on Campden Hill in South West Houston. As a result 2 people were left dead and a third was injured. - NONE OF THESE FACTS CAN BE ARGUED.

The state alleges there were 7 people in the car when the crime occurred. Three people testified they were in the car at the time of the drive-by shooting. James Moore identified himself as the owner and driver of the vehicle, while his cousin Dominic Holmes and Holme`s best friend Johnny Valdez were passengers. All 3 testified they did not know the drive-by was going to happen and that Tony Medina committed the crime.... THIS IS ALL THEY AGREED ON.

The states whole case against Tony rested on these alleged witnesses. Moore, Holmes and Valdez together gave a total of at least 11 different and contradicting statements. They NEVER, even at trial agreed on;
  1. who was sitting where in the car at the time of the crime
  2. who was even IN the car
  3. where they were coming from or going to when the crime was committed
  4. or what time the crime actually occurred

Now let me tell you a little about Tony himself, and you decide.

I read your article about the guy on death row. I'm a "hick from Hoosierville" and have no idea what this guy was convicted for? Sorry - I don't track the justice system in every state so now I am confused. I know that people are wrongly convicted but I can't take a stand without a full explanation of the charges and the evidence. Did I miss your explanation of these details somewhere?

I read all this and I truly believe in my heart that Tony should be set free and be able to sue for false imprisonment. I am not the sueing type but this young man has been falsly accused on a crime that he did not do. My prayers will be with him that he will be freed as soon as possible and hope that he will know that just because those people did this to him not everyone was against him. This is the saddnes article I have read and shows that know one is truly safe.

I am constantly writing to the Governor of Texas as well as others. Texas is THE worst. Too many innocent men are executed. We have to try to stop this BS.
