Associated Content Writer Meets Famous Flamenco Singer Diego El Cigala

What I treat I had in a local Madrid, Spain sushi restaurant the afternoon of September 16, 2008. My friends and I got to meet the famous flamenco singer Diego el Cigala while we enjoyed some great fish dishes (including sushi) at a local Madrid, Spain restaurant. Here's more about our fateful meeting with Diego el Cigala. I had no idea who this man was until my good friend informed me after he spotted him seated right next to our table!

Diego el Cigala Was Very Kind To Us In The Madrid, Spain Sushi Restaurant

I was enjoying one of my sushi courses, and my very good friend next to me got kind of excited. He said that he thought that Diego el Cigala was sitting next to us. I asked him who that was, and he said he was a famous flamenco singer in Spain. He said he would try to verify this. So my friend excused himself and left the area for a few seconds, then came back past him and back to where we were sitting, and told us it was him!

Well, since I had my camera, I asked them if it would be okay after we ate our lunch in the Madrid, Spain sushi restaurant to introduce ourselves to Diego el Cigala. He said that would be fine. So after the check was paid, my friend introduced himself and the flamenco star was very polite to him. Then he asked Diego el Cigala if we could take some photos, and he agreed. First, he posed with my other friend (pictured) and then he posed with me (pictured).

The reason why he's holding a large spoon is that I wanted to pose with him like I was a roving reporter asking him questions. When he saw the spoon, he took it and made an eating gesture with it! All in all, Diego el Cigala was a really good sport, and when I got back to my friend's house in the downtown Madrid, Spain area, I went to his official website here - and listened to some samples of his flamenco music. He's a very good singer, I thought, and you can even get some videos of his singing on YouTube as well, and hear more of his passionate singing. Boy, it's great to discover new and great music. Maybe one day he'll make one of my top ten songs list!
