Kirby Pines is located in a beautiful suburban area at the edge of the city and is one of the most beautifully landscaped communities of its kind I've seen. There are beautiful green gardens and tall oaks and elms where residents can take restful walks. From extended care to an Alzheimers unit, there are many options. The nurses I saw were attentive and cheerful. Inside even the Alzheimer's Unit, people seemed to care and to be very professional. The buildings are light and airy. Even the Alzheimer's unit has computers with big print screens and there was a birdcage in the main lounge and seemed to be lots of resources for sensory stimulation.
I'd definitely put this facility tops on any list for retirement care in Memphis.
Kirby Pines IS focused more on elderly who have difficulty getting around and like most facilities of this sort, has recreation, meals, laundry rooms and lots of amenities, depending on what you need.
