Alba Unscented Moisturizing Cream Shave

Our family is trying to limit the amounts of chemicals in our personal care products. It's a challenge because these are much harder to find, and they are also usually quite expensive. Imagine my delight when I visited my local Safeway store's nutrition center, and they had numerous tubes of Alba Botanica Moisturizing Cream Shave Unscented.

Description

This shave cream comes in a generously sized 8 ounce tube, looking much like a tube of hand cream. The cap flips open so you can easily squeeze out the desired amount. My store had the older version, in a light blue colored tube, and the newer version in a light lavender color, which said "NEW!" on the front. Looking at the ingredients, these are identical except for the last three ingredients. The blue tube contains ethylhexylglycerin, and the lavender tube contains benzyl alcohol and potassium sorbate.

The front of the tube reads "Skin conditioning shave with an organic blend of aloe vera, chamomile and lavender". This shaving cream is suitable for both men and women, and is perfect for all skin types. It is enriched with some awesome ingredients that are great for the skin. Among them are Jojoba, organic Vitamin E, organic Calendula, Chamomile, Lavender, and Green Tea extracts. All of these ingredients are wonderfully nourishing! Lavender helps the skin recover from burns, so if you get a razor burn while shaving, this cream already has ingredients that are both soothing and healing.

Our Experience

My husband wasn't too sure about using this, he uses an Avon product that he loves, but I convinced him to give it a try since the Alba Botanica products are all natural. He uses it every morning when he takes a shower, as he always shaves in the shower. I use it when I shave my legs about once a week. The cream is an opaque white, and while it's not real thick, it's not runny either. It is easy to smooth it across the skin, and the razor simply glides easily over the skin after this has been applied. I like that there are no chemical or synthetic dyes added to the product.
