Kellogg's Special K Protein Bars for Dieters

When I am on a diet, I take advantage of all the tools available to me to assist me in my endeavor, and meal replacement bars have had a prominent place in my kitchen cupboards over the last year. My favorite meal
bars are the Kraft South Beach bars, but after a friend raved about the Special K version, I had to give them a try.

These come in different flavors, but I chose the chocolate peanut butter, because both of those flavors are two of my favorites. My 9.5 ounce box contained six 1.59 ounce bars, and a free snack bar was included. The front of the box features the signature red "K" that Kellogg's Special K is famous for, and states clearly that one bar contains 10 grams of protein. They say that the bars help you to feel full longer. The box also says that you can lose up to six pounds in two weeks.

The back of the box gives Kellogg's formula for success to the weight loss, suggesting you eat Special K cereal with skim milk for breakfast, a Special K Protein Meal Bar as a meal replacement for one meal during the day, and you can eat your third meal "as you normally do". I have not tried their weight loss plan, but do occasionally eat a meal replacement bar for my breakfast.

The bars come individually packaged, and measure 4 1/2" by 1 1/4" by 5/8" thick. They are designed to help you feel full because they contain both protein and fiber. The bars are covered with milk chocolate, and biting into one reveals rice cereal and peanuts. These are quite dense bars, and although they are quite sweet, they don't taste as good as a candy bar. In fact, I find them a little bit dry, and the cereal bars actually got stuck at the back of my throat a few times, requiring me to drink some coffee along with it. The meal bars are quite chewy, and do have a good feel in the mouth.
