20 Alternative Fall Activities for Your Young Child to Trick or Treating
Halloween is a sugar high of fun for most families, but what if you don't celebrate the pagan holiday of Halloween? Your young child or children come home from school both confused and feeling shorted
because they want to trick or treat too. They likely don't understand why they aren't participating in the seemingly harmless holiday that has all the other young kids in a tizzy over costumes and candy. What can you do to make Halloween pass by quicker for your young child?
First, explain why your family doesn't celebrate Halloween, be it religious reasons or otherwise. Most importantly you want to be honest and straight forward. "Because I said so" often does not work near as well as a clear and honest explanation no matter your child's age. Once they better understand that they are not celebrating Halloween for a reason, and your not just being mean to them, they'll likely take it much easier with less fits.
Second, you can replace the fun of trick or treating for Halloween with other fall activities. Just because your not celebrating the dead or the passing of the year with Halloween or a feast doesn't mean you can't have some fun. Which brings us to the fun part of this article:
