George Michael's acquisition of John Lennon's upright piano in 2000 has resulted in a display at Michael's partner's Kenny Goss' Uptown art gallery.

The piano will serve as the centerpiece for a war/peace exhibit smack dab in the middle of the popular gay community that is Cedar Springs (Oak Lawn). The famous piano in which Lennon composed the famous song "Imagine" in 1971 was shipped to the U.S. by Michael for the specially curated photography exhibit celebrating peace. Thomas Munita, who represents the young generation of photojournalists, is just one of the artists featured along with Gabriele Basilico who is one of today's best known documentary photographers.

In conjunction with the show, which premiered Dec. 5th, six images of the piano, each in a limited edition print series signed by the photographer will be available through Goss Gallery.

Lennon bought the piano in 1970 and had it delivered to studios at his home in Tittenhurst Park in Berkshire. This exhibit marks the first time the piano has left its United Kingdom home. The beige piano is said to be the most expensive piece of pop memorabilia that was purchased by Michael in October 2000 for $2.1 million.

The contemporary gallery reflects the work of international young and established artists. Dallas native Goss has an appreciation of outstanding art that he has collected and enjoyed at fairs and galleries in the U.S. and Europe, according to his website.

The 3,200-square-foot Goss Gallery opened in May 2005 and has received international acclaim, featuring the works of world-renowned artists. Michael attended the grand opening, a private preview event last year for his long-time partner.

In a PR Newswire press release back then Michael stated that Dallas had become his favorite place in the U.S.

Goss describes his gallery as "one of a kind and exciting."
