We bought the Amco Enameled Aluminum Lime Squeezer along with the lemon squeezer from the same brand. Sadly, the pros and cons of this Lime Squeezer are almost the same as that of the Lemon Squeezer and the review might sound similar. Since I use lemon squeezer more often, or rather more regularly than the lime squeezer, I knew in advance what to expect from the later and took some precautions beforehand to counter the flaws.

Basic problem with the Amco is that the enamel coating is not of good quality. I held myself responsible for premature peeling of enamel in case of lemon squeezer as I had put it in dishwasher at high temperature. To be on safer side, I have always hand washed the lime squeezer and still, the story is no different. The area where the lime juice gets into more contact with the squeezer, the coating cracks and peels of exposing the base aluminum metal.

Actually, the enamel layer is coated over aluminum to safeguard the metal from reacting with acidic lime juice. But now that the enamel has come out though not entirely, the surface develops pits. It is true that aluminum does not corrode but it oxidizes turning the light green Amco Enameled Aluminum Lime Squeezer tarnished with dark color. I guess the Amco has gone for aluminum because of the light weight construction and ease of handling, but honestly I feel simple stainless steel construction would have been better.

The hinge joint has already corroded though I made sure to wipe the part immediately after every use. By the way, if you are looking for an average lime squeezer to be used occasionally for making cocktail or lemonade, then the Amco is worth considering at $11. This is easy to use and squeezes juice instantly without relying on power like food processor or muscle power as in with traditional citrus press. Best part is that it does not require any assembling and all you have to do is to cut the lime into half and introduce it in to the cup holder and press it gently.
