Fast Food Review of a Minnesota Sonic Drive-In

Sonic Screw Up at the Drive-In

The Sonic franchise includes over 3,000 restaurants. With the one in Burnsville, Minnesota, maybe they should reconsider and take a step back. My first experience with Sonic was probably my last. I was as excited as the next slushie slurper to learn of the new addition in fast food options... I watched and waited patiently as the building went up, fixtures installed and the gigantic inflatable slushie welcoming all who entered. The reviews from friends came in fast. "Great food, but they are new and not running smoothly yet." "It was awesome, just wait a week or two until things calm down." I took the advice to heart and waited about a month.

It was a lovely day for something new. We pulled into Sonic and quickly realized the a drive in meant no seating inside. Ok, that one was my fault. They did have outdoor tables and chairs which we opted for over eating in our car with a messy toddler in the back. We perused the menu and ordered. Then waited. And waited. And waited. It seemed like everyone else was being served but us. It always seems like that with kids, I told myself.

"John, John? Is there a John?" Um, did he mean Don? "John, Don, Fred, whatever" our server said. "Whatever?" Great Customer Service. We looked at the food on our table. It was at our table and sort of resembled our order... except they had given us the wrong drinks and forgotten my kids food. Minutes went by. I finally flagged someone down to tell them what was going on. Once the proper food arrived, it was cold. Everything was cold. My burger had a mountain of veggies that I did not order on top of it. My cheese curds were hard as rocks and my Diet Dr. Pepper was actually a regular Dr. Pepper. Not that I'm on a diet and ordering cheese curds, but I am diabetic. I sucked the soda half way down before realizing it tasted funny.
