Most of us love to decorate our homes as the seasons change. The problem is how to decorate and bring our homes into the fall without breaking the bank. Fortunately, there are many ways to decorate for fall using very little cash.

First, see what you have available to use for your decorating:

1. Make a house search. Most of us have lots of things that can be used in different ways. In this case, you are looking first for most anything orange, gold, brown or olive green. Things these colors can be used lots of ways in your fall decorating plan. Also, think out of the box as far as use. A large bowled wine class can be filled with candy corn and used as a decorator item. A single taper candle can be put in a mini pumpkin be part of a centerpiece, or go on the mantle or counter. Don't forget to look at any craft type in your fall colors or them that you or your kids may have lying around.

2. Look around in your yard or neighborhood. Make this a family adventure, especially if you have young children. Pretty leaves can be ironed between waxed paper (or rubbed with Vaseline) and then used as part of your decorating. Tree branches, acorns and other nuts, and fall wildflowers are all free. Remember to take in family allergies when collecting flowers, and don't allow children to eat berries.

3. Think about fall edibles and scents you may have at home or find at the grocery store. Cranberries, mini and large pumpkins, squash, small apples, candy corn, and fall colored jelly beans can all be used to set the mood.

Now that I've gotten you thinking, below are some ideas that have worked for me through the years:

1. An easy table top display: use a tray, platter, or basket and put smaller pumpkins of various sizes. Add some colored leaves and a couple small candles. (If you are going to spend money on your display, I advise a fall jar candle and a couple mini candles as your best decorating dollar ). Remember that any display that you might put on your dining table can also go on a mantle, coffee table or even a chest.

2. Cut a medium to smaller sized pumpkin and empty out the insides. Fill it with dried flowers or items you got during your walks.
