Penny, the Girl of My Dreams?

Alling in Love with a Girl Named Penny is Quickly Becoming Cliche

I don't know any girls named penny. None at all. And somehow I feel cheated for not knowing any. Recently the stories coming from my television have been telling me that I should and that Penny should be the girl of my dreams.

It all started with Lost, which introduced us to Penelope Widmore. At this point things were not too bad. She went by Penny rather than by her full name and was the long lost love of Desmond. This soon became the most straight forward love story on the show, and finally came to the two of
them meeting together at the end of season four. However, by this time Ms. Widmore was not the only Penny that I was being told should be the girl of my dreams.

Enter The Big Bang Theory. This time instead of being on the other side of the world, Penny lives right across the hall. She quickly becomes a bit of a dream girl for Lenoard, and this becomes a reoccurring plot in every episode. Now there are two shows telling me to fall madly in love with Penny, but this alone could have just been a coincidence.

That very summer though, any doubt over that was crushed as the world was introduced to Dr. Horrible's Sing along Blog. The name of the girl Dr. Horrible is obsessed with is of course Penny. The ending for Penny may not have been as happy as in the other cases, but it just further pushed the point, that if there is any girl that I am supposed to fall madly in love with, it should be a girl named Penny.

The thing is I don't know any girls named Penny, and by the time I do, falling in love with a girl named Penny will be far to cliche to do so anyhow...
