The GMAT or Graduate Management Admission Test was designed for business schools by business schools. It was created to test business school student's knowledge of the field of business management and is administered in the United States, Canada and in many other places worldwide. The fee to take the test is $250 USD. There are different sections of the test, which require knowledge different from another section; they are the verbal section, the quantitative section, and the Analytical Writing Assessment.

The verbal section of the test has 41 questions, all of which are to be answered in 75 minutes. It basically tests spelling and grammar correction, logical thinking, and comprehension of reading. The spelling and grammar portion tests just that, how well you can correct errors in the sentence. The logical thinking, more commonly called the Critical Reasoning portion, gives you a selective amount of arguments between two business sources and has questions asking you to do and point out a variety of things about the arguments. Lastly in the verbal section, is the Reading Comprehension portion, which gives you a passage you have to read and is followed by questions concerning the passage you read to test your comprehension.

The quantitative section of the test gives you 75 minutes to answer 37 questions. It, like the verbal section has portions, which are Problem Solving and Data Sufficiency. The problem solving portion tests how well you understand arithmetic, algebra and geometry, through both number and word problems. The Data Sufficiency portion is quite different. The examinee is given a unique math question and two statements and must determine if one or both statements is required to answer the question.
